Grooming
I get a ton of questions about my grooming. You can see all my favorite grooming supplies here.
I usually get a full groom once a month and get brushed every other day. Keeping me looking good is easy, because we have a good grooming routine.
When I was a little puppy, I was terrified of getting groomed. I would shake with fear every time I saw a brush and it took a lot of positive reinforcement and gentle brushing to recondition me to like it.
The first thing we did, was change the brushes. My mommy noticed that I had a stronger fear response to specific combs, so she stopped using them immediately and bought different brushes that I had never been brushed with.

Here's the steps and tools my mommy used to get me to like getting brushed:
Step 1.
We started brushing with a very gentle soft brush. I was only brushed after I had been exercised and was feeling tired. While I was brushed, my mommy would feed me cooked chicken bites and talk reassuringly  to me - this very quickly reconditioned me to associate brushing with something pleasant.

Step 2.
After using the soft brush for a week, my mommy started switching the brush halfway through to a Tangle Teezer. Because the tangle teezer is so gentle, it doesn't pull too much on the hair, and it's also great for getting rid of any tangles. Combined with a tangle spray it gets out all the knots quickly.

Step 3.
After 2 weeks, my mommy added a new brush. After she had done the main brushing with the tangle teezer, she would finish brushing me very gently with a slicker brush.
The last step isn't really necessary, but it leaves me looking extra fluffy.
